An interview was conducted to have a better understanding of the pro- life beliefs. During the interview, the respondent gave their viewpoint to why they believe abortion should become illegal. When asking the interviewee why they feel as though abortion is wrong, their response was, “Frankly, it’s still straight up murder, of a defenseless child” (Participant 1). They go into detail describing why abortion is murder. The respondent starts off by stating that in two to three weeks, an embryo is formed and the fetus begins to develop. By the third week, the heart starts to form, thus making the fetus a human being. So, they make the difficult choice and choose to have an abortion. Abortion is never an easy choice for anyone, but sometimes it’s the only choice. If abortion was outlawed it would have been even harder for women. In Romania, communist leader, Nicolae Ceausescu wanted population to grow so he issued decree 770 in 1996. Ceausescu’s decree prohibited women the right to receive an abortion. The only time abortion was allowed was for citrine circumstance, e.g. rape, insect and medical problems. As a result of banning abortion, women found illegal ways to receive an abortion. Women were undoubtedly being harmed in the process. Three years later, Ceausescu created stricter regulations for decree 770. Authorities were forced to keep a close eye on women’s menstrations. They kept a close eye on menstruations in order to gain information and integrate women who did not become pregnant. The death rate of illegal abortion grew. When Ceausescu was executed and no longer in 1989 and in longer charge, decree 770 was one of the first rules that was abolished. By this time, decree 770 has caused 11,000 deaths by botched bleeding.
Unfortunately, women have died all over the world because of illegal abortions. According to world Health organization, abortion is illegal in roughly about 66 countries. An estimated amount of 21.6 million women worldwide die each year due to unsafe abortion. About 18.5 million of those women came from developing countries. If abortion is legal in every country, women would not find dangerous solutions and risk their lives. Legalizing abortion would help save millions of
