Task 1: Answer the following questions BRIEFLY.
1) Who were the "Know-Nothings"?
The “Know-Nothings” was the Irish immigrants Catholics and other immigrants that came to America during the 1850. It was an American political movement that had a limit on the Irish Catholics. They were called the “know-nothing” was because when a member was being asked about the activities, they would responds “I know nothing”. The out-siders would call them “know-nothing” because that’s all they would say when they were questioned.
2) What was the "Black Hand"?
The Black Hand was a symbolic used for the criminal and terroristic secret society, which was apart of the Mafia and Camorra. Ten men had from the Black Hand in Serbia. During the 20th century, New York was being flourished with the Black Hand. It was said that about 90% of Italian-American that lived in New York was being threaten by a letter, which was marked with a “black hand”.

In honor of his death, a small triangular park in lower Manhattan was named after him, the name of the park is called Lieutenant Joseph Petrosine Square, it is two blocks away from where the old police station was once there, in the SoHo
