Who is to Blame for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet?
The play, “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, tells a devastating tale about two forbidden lovers from feuding families who commit suicide. In the Montegue family, Romeo, a young handsome fellow, falls in love with Juliet, an angelic Capulet lady. But the two's undying love for each other is halted due to their families' long-standing hatred for one another. As a result of this, Romeo and Juliet commit suicide in the end. Even though Romeo and Juliet commit suicide, their untimely deaths are ultimately caused by Friar Lawrence and The Nurse.

First of all, Friar Lawrence lets himself become way too much into Romeo and Juliet's relationship. Instead of telling Romeo and Juliet that he could not marry Romeo and Juliet for the reason that the feud would add more scandal to the already feuding families. As illustrated in Act 2 Scene 6, Romeo and Juliet are married by Friar Lawrence (133-135). In this section, you can see that Friar Lawrence is very much instigating Romeo and Juliet’s rebellious decision to get married. Above all, Friar Lawrence was the one who came up with the plan to give Juliet a potion that would temporarily kill her. As seen in Act 4 scene 1, Friar Lawrence instructs Juliet to drink the position and reveals what will happen when she does so. saying, “When you are in bed, take this vile and mix its contents with liquor, and drink”, “then your pulse will stop”, and “your heart will stop beating”.
