Who Is The Protagonist In Beowulf

The Bible is the religious book with an unbelievable history. In the very beginning many people were not able to read the bible because it was not written in their language. The Bible is split up in the Old Testimony and the New Testimony. It was until King James that the Bible was translated to English. It took 52 scholars and several days until they were and to translate the entire text. In our textbooks we are presented with 4 excerpts on this translated version. The 1611 King James Version of the Bible was so significant to the history of religion because now the common people were able to interpret the text. In many instances, the protagonist is built on good morals and always makes the right and mature decision, while the antagonist is created by greed and driven by his immense power and yearning for more. At a point in the book, the protagonist gains incredible power and defeats his enemy or enemies. This concept has spread throughout all genres of writing, whether it’s fantasy or romance, the good guy will never take advantage of his power. Why has this style of writing become so popular? The poem, Beowulf, is said to be the first of its kind of writing. The hero, Beowulf, uses his godly strength to rid the lands of evil, instead of turning evil. This time Beowulf needs armor and weapons because Grendel’s Mother does not fight like her son. Instead of bare arms, she uses the power of magic. This battle is against Mother becomes intense to the point that Beowulf is at the edge of death. “And in an instant she had him down, held helpless, (line 517)” but, again, an extreme emphasis on his strength is pointed out when he manages to lift a sword blessed with magic that no ordinary man can lift. He uses this sword defeat Grendel’s Mother. Then, instead of returning home, he finds Grendel’s dead body and returns home with his head.
