Who Is Napoleon In Animal Farm

In Animal Farm, George Orwell creates the character Napoleon who can be seen as a good leader or a bad dictator. Napoleon increased the animals work and banished anyone who disagreed with him. Napoleon also opened trade with the neighboring farms which have humans. So overall, the farm would of been better off with Mr. Jones instead of Napoleon. However, although Napoleon was a ruthless dictator, he played it well by using fear and manipulation to keep his silence decent. Orwell is trying to say that there can really be no perfect leader because not all of the animals will agree with everything he or she does. Jack is mostly similar to Napoleon because they both did not stand down and did whatever they could to get to power. Snowball would be most similar to Ralph as they both have the majority. Although animals and humans seem completely different, their idea of power is the same. They both have one leader who resembles power and one leader who will do anything to gain power. Napoleon was a power hungry pig and when he was made the leader of animal farm everything went downhill for him. Power turned him into something even worse from what he was before. In Lord of the flies we learned that if one person has complete power, things will go downhill. This is simply because everyone will not completely agree with the leader.
