I remember struggling to sit down and work on spelling words in first grade. My mom found ways to help with my constant need to move, one of these ways was to have me jump from colored square to colored square on the carpet as I spelled the word. This was a great fix for my young hyperactive mind. Once I reached the third grade the content being taught required more sitting lecture time, I had a very hard time focusing. My teacher told my mom she should medicate me. My mom didn't feel this was the best course of action and felt I would so much better with one on one teaching so she pulled me out of public school. I was homeschooled from fourth until ninth grade. Going back to school I faced the same challenges as I did in the first grade, but this time it was Spanish. I had a hard time sitting to learn all the new words, this affected my grade. I learned to spend time studying for short periods with frequent breaks. This only helps a little but it did allow we to create great studying skills. The skills I learned helped me through the rest of freshman
