Similarly, I disliked Americanized Chinese foods upon my arrival to the land of American dreams. I loathed the syrupy sweet-and-sour sauce that envelops canned vegetables, the texture of chewy fried chicken bits sliding down my throat, and the flavorless fortune cookies that resemble nothing like exquisite Chinese pastry.
