On August 6, 1945 the United States dropped bombs killing thousands of people on Japan, which effectively ended the Second World War. The bombings against Japan were necessary because they had warnings and a chance to surrender, things could have ended up worse, and most of all it protected the lives of the US. Japan didn’t have a direct warning that the US was going to bomb them, but there was a statement encouraging Japan to surrender while the bomb was still being talked about. Japan didn’t surrender. For months we dropped more than 63 million leaflets across Japan, warning them of bombings. However Hiroshima was not one of the seven cities who received leaflets.
Russia was getting involved and other countries would've joined and made the war worse. Japan wasn’t prepared for the bomb, or retaliation, like other countries lowering the chance of something happening in return. Yes, those are many innocent lives being taken for no reason other than war, but they are our enemies. Its job was to protect the US lives, not to care for the lives of the enemy. We could have done something different and less lethal, but not to mention the Bombing of Pearl Harbor that started the conflict between us.
Overall, the bombings were necessary. It saved many U.S. lives by preventing any other retaliation from happening. There were leaflets dropped to warn citizens from bomb droppings, allowing many to flee. We also showed other nations like Russia what bombs we are able to make, and how we have no mercy to drop
