The library was quiet with patrons on the computers while some older folks were playing chess in the back corner. I scanned the spot for Zaire, but found no sight of him. Looking at my watch again, it read, 2:02p.m.
I’ll be damned. Zee’s actually late for lunch. I said to myself, wondering what they could have him doing.
It was only two minutes after, but when it came to time, Zaire was always exact. When he set a …show more content…
We split a full box of donuts between us and sipped on hot chocolate. Sitting there, we stuffed our faces silently, warming up before the conversation started.
I sipped my beverage, feeling the warm of the liquid radiate through me. “So, moving been hard, huh?”
“Yeah, I’ve had a few friends help, but it’s mostly been me.”
I could hear the exhaustion in his voice causing me to frown and sulk some. “It’s cool. You’ve got the right to be angry, sweetie. Just remember to learn from what you leave behind.”
“Alright Yoda,” I smirked, finishing my hot chocolate. “You always got something wise to say.”
“Be lucky it was wise because when you came at me and mine the smart-ass put of my brain was ready to get you out of here.”

“Okay, you got me there.” Zaire stood up, putting his jacket on. “But since I’ve got you for a while, I want to show you something
