What Is Mulan's Family Honor?

A long time ago in ancient China, Mulan lived with her parents and her dog named, Little Brother. Mulan is the only child in her family and she feels responsible for maintaining the family honor. Mulan is trying to bring honor to her family by going to the matchmaker, but she fails. The matchmaker tells her she will never bring her family honor. When Mulan comes home from visiting the matchmaker, her parents are upset and she feels upset. She knows if she was to be herself she would break her family’s heart.

The Huns, led by Shan Yu, invade China by crossing the Great Wall. The Chinese emperor commands to start marshaling troops. Each family must have one man join the army to help defend China. Mulan’s father, Fa Zhou, is drafted to fight

Mulan rushes there and tries to tell Shang about how Shan Yu survived the avalanche and was in the city but Shang won't listen to her because she is a girl. Mulan tells Chien-Po, Ling, and Yao to keep their eyes open. She also tries to tell people there that the emperor isn’t safe but no one will listen to her because she’s a girl. During the celebrating, the Huns kidnap the Emperor and lock up the palace. Mulan comes up with a plan with Chien-Po, Ling, Shang, and Yao. Chien-Po, Ling, and Yao dress up as ladies along with Mulan and get ready to climb up the palace. Shang decides to come with them. When the Hun guards see them approaching they don’t think they are harmful because they are ladies. When Chien-Po, Ling, Yao and Mulan are able to get close to the guards they throw fruit at them. Then, they use their fighting skills to defeat the rest of the Hun army in the palace. Shang rescues the empire from Shan Yu’s clutches and starts to fight Shan Yu. Chien-Po is able to get the emperor out of the palace safely. When Mulan is about to get out of the palace she sees that Shang is having a hard time defeating Shan Yu and diverts Shan Yu’s attention by telling him she was the one who made the avalanche on the mountain. Immediately, Shan Yu chases Mulan. She runs out of the room and locks the door behind her. While Mulan is running from the room, Mushu and CriKee run alongside her and they make a swift plan. With a crash, Shan Yu breaks through the door of the room and chases after Mulan with his sword. Mulan is able to lure Shan Yu to the palace roof. Both of them engage in solo combat. Mulan gets Shan Yu’s sword by using one of her fans and is able to keep him from moving. When Mulan gives Mushu and CriKee a signal, they both fire fireworks at Shan Yu. Shan Yu sees the incoming fireworks and tries to get away but Mulan pins his coat to the roof with his sword. When the fireworks explode, they kill
