What is Healthcare Accounting?

Introduction
Coming closer to the end of an Accounting degree begins to start the variety of questions such as, “What type of accounting are you interested in?” or, “What do you want to do with you degree?” Most people by this time have a pretty good idea of the type of career they plan to pursue. After a recent interview I became very interested in healthcare accounting and what in fact it entailed. This paper will provide information about healthcare accounting to those who have never entered the field. To enter into a position of a book keeper or entry level accounting assistant can be filled by a person with less education. In most cases these positions require an associate’s degree or equivalent amount of experience. Any additional certifications or education can always be beneficial against competition to advance to any higher level positions. All healthcare organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and home healthcare businesses require accountants to fill various types of positions that they have …show more content…
What accountants do in the different types of organizations, the comparison of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, and the comparison of the financial statements are major aspects of this position and should provide some insight on what the job position would consist of. With the right kind of passion it can be a very rewarding career that you enjoy for the rest of your life.
