Frontal Lobe The cerebral cortex is divided into four major lobes, with each lobe serving different purpose. Located at the front of the brain, the Frontal Lobe is responsible for one's personality, judgment, motor skills and memory. In addition, the Frontal Lobe also controls emotions, impulse control, sexual and social behaviors. The Frontal Lobe can be separated into the Prefrontal Cortex, which controls personality and emotion, and the Motor Cortex. The Motor Cortex can be subdivided premotor cortex and primary motor cortex which are responsible for voluntary muscle movement (Bailey 1). Due to the wide variety of functions this lobe carries out, damage to the Frontal lobe can have very different, yet very serious consequences.
