Decent Essays
Fetal phonocardiography is the acoustic signals recorded from the maternal abdominal surface using acoustic sensors. It carries valuable information pertaining to the physiological state of unborn baby in the womb and has the potential for detection of structure abnormality like pathological murmur, split sound [14, 15].
Under normal condition the mechanical action of fetal heart produces two distinct sound S1 and S2 in each cardiac cycle. The sound S1 is heard due to the closure of mitral and tricuspid valves, while S2 is heard due to the aortic and pulmonary valves. Along with these sounds some noises of very low amplitude with frequency between 0 to 25 Hz also produced due to fetal movement, mother heart sound [16]. The circulation of

Another anatomical abnormality is patent ductus arteriosus—this condition is when two major arteries, the aorta and pulmonary, are connected and have abnormal blood flow and usually happens following birth. Before birth, the aorta and pulmonary arteries are connected by the ductus arteriosus for fetal blood circulation. However, immediately after birth up to a few days, the duct closes on its own as part of the normal development process. However, the duct doesn’t always close, which leads to the patent ductus arteriosus condition. It puts a strain on the heart and increases blood pressure in the pulmonary system.…

A lawsuit has been filed against 2 biological supply companies, claiming that they sold fetal tissues acquired between the time-frame of 2009-2015 from planned parenthood at extremely expensive prices around the world which is against the law. The biological companies claim that the allegations of overpricing dead fetal tissues extracted from aborted babies held against them are just “accounting issues”. The 2 companies has charged as much as $700 a vial for fetal tissue that only costed them just $20 to process, according to prosecutors. The article, “Prenatal blueprints give an early glimpse of a baby’s developing brain”, by Vaughan Bell most closely relates to chapter three which informs the reader of prenatal development in the womb until childbirth. Bell begins by allowing the reader into his world by explaining his emotions and describing the first ultrasound he is attending alongside his wife. This is a very much normal experience for any expecting parents, since it allows a view into what very soon they will be able to carry in their own hands. Furthermore, the article soon transitions into what could possibly be identified with further research in the field. As the title hints towards, the brain is a very intriguing and mysterious aspect of the developing fetus, which in turn makes it the point of interest for many scientists.…

Ultrasound Technicians, also known as diagnostic medical sonographers, use equipment that makes sound waves to produce or record a picture of the internal organs. Sonography is an important medical field because it allows technicians and physicians to see and diagnose a patient’s condition in a minimally intrusive way. What once may have required exploratory surgery now is a quick outpatient procedure with minimal patient discomfort. Ultrasound works by using a high rate of sound waves and echoes: it’s like echolocation which some animals use to find objects by sound. An Ultrasound machine uses high rythm sound waves that pulses into the body by using a transducer probe (the main part of the machine).…
