What Is Datura Stramonium Aka Jimson Weed?

Datura Stramonium aka Jimson Weed is a plant in the nightshade family. It is a foul smelling herb that forms on a bush 2-5 ft. tall. The plants flowers are a white to violet color with a trumpet like shape that blooms during the summertime. The egg shaped capsule is 3-8 cm in diameter and is covered with spines or none at all. When flourished, it splits into four chambers each with many small black seeds (1).
