What Is Charlie's Perception Of Intelligence?

Throughout the text, Charlie’s perception of intelligence has changed significantly. His first views were changed by his experiences in the story. Initially, Charlie wished to have intelligence. He wanted to learn and become smart. In the text, Charlie wrote “Their [sic] going to use me! Im [sic] so exited [sic] I can hardly write” (Keyes 270). The scientists planned to “use” Charlie as a human test subject for an intelligence tripling operation. Charlie was excited because he has always wanted to become smart, or at least as intelligent as the average person. His initial views were that knowledge was important and you could never have too much. He just wanted to know how it felt to be normal.
