The airport was crowded and we were bustling our way through the crowds of people to get to our terminal.
“We are going to be late, Emily!” my husband yelled at me.
“Yeah, I know! We can’t miss our flight to LA!” I shouted back.
My husband and I got married four years ago on this day. Both of us had a dream to live in Los Angeles so John surprised me by purchasing a penthouse there. We had finally

End of conversation, goodbye John I will see you when I am done being the heroic person I have always wanted to be,”

“If you’re going, then I’m going too,” John proclaimed. He crossed his arms over his chest.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“I am supporting your decision. Therefore, I am going to be there for you.”
“That’s ridiculous, you cannot do that John! Stop!” He continued to follow me, and then I felt a sudden surge of anger. Using it to my advantage, I broke down the boarding hall door; spotting no one outside the door.
“They are probably hiding somewhere, ready to jump out,” John whispered to me.
“We have to be super careful, watch every move you make and keep your eyes peeled, or else we are done,” A shiver ran up my spine as John and I started inching closer and closer into the open part of the airport. There was nothing to be seen except chairs flipped over and bullet holes decorated the wall.
“They were obviously just here,” John uttered
“We better watch out,” I muttered in return. Out of nowhere, a man was noticed, walking through the airport. John and I held onto each other tightly; realizing that he could be a potential

“Yes, come to the front entrance! I am waiting for you and John,”
“We are coming,” I told her. John and I found Maria outside of the airport with her car parked beside her. Exchanging hugs, we hopped into the car.
“You two are heroes,” Maria acknowledged.
“Thanks, I guess,” I felt better about myself. Now, many others were safe and able to go to their intended locations.
“What do you mean you guess? You just saved so many people.”
“Yeah I guess that is true.” I just shrugged it off. It was no big deal; anyone in my shoes would have done the same. John and I just stared at each other when Maria stopped the car at a local Starbucks and told us that we deserved whatever we wanted. Also she was going to spend the next few days with us for support. We told her we didn't need any support but she admitted that we did.

John and I realized that being a hero took a lot of courage and effort. We both knew that we could be heroes in many different ways. Yet, we did not have to take big action such as, fighting off shooters at an airport to be a hero. It could be the tiniest thing and in some way, we would still be considered a hero. We maintained the mindset we had when fighting off the shooters, John and I agree that it makes our world a whole lot brighter each

Air travel is nowhere near comfortable. A message from Dr. Florence Thomson written in response to an article published in The British Medical Journal in 1953 was, “most passengers are quite unable to rest in comfort in the position allowed, and sleep is quite impossible except in very short snatches” (996). In 2016, nothing changed for the better in this regard; CNN recently published an article about the disruptive passengers in flights and incidents of air rage in airplanes (McKirdy). What did change significantly is what comes before boarding the airplane. It has been 15 years since that horrifying day in September 2001.…

“The simple acts of heroism are often overlooked-” (SB p.64). Sometimes we expect so much of our ideal hero that we do not consider the “simple acts” people do that may be thought of as heroic. Some may say that in our world there are no heroes, but the fact is nobody is purely good. Others may believe that the only real heroes are ones in comic books, yet on the news we hear the word “hero” on non-comic book related things, so this can’t be completely true. Heroes are humble when faced with challenges, they selflessly save others, and they are not done aiding until another’s well being is insured.…
