Sadly enough, we commonly hear of innocent souls being taken from us. Although, in the case of Kitty Genovese, 38 of her close friends and neighbors watched as the life in her eyes slowly slipped away.. On one late evening in New York, a young woman was just off of work and on her way up to her apartment when a mysterious man began to approach her. This man eventually stabbed her multiple times as the rest of the neighborhood sat by and did nothing to help the wounded girl. Should these bystanders suffer any consequences? Was it worth a human life when someone could have simply called 911? One might think: ¨How is it even possible for such a situation to occur?¨ Such an incident is possible due to the mentality of our society and
