Several studies conducted using different methods with breast cancer are at higher risk for experiencing symptoms of depression than healthy women (Tojal 2015). Usually there are alternative ways to find if you do have breast cancer such as checking during the shower (it is common for physicians to tell women these tips), and check yourself in the mirror often and see if both breasts are in normal shape. If you notice that there is a lump on the side on either breast, there could be a chance. Depression is one of the more common symptoms that is found in women who have breast cancer. As for studies conducted with clinical interviews, rates of mood disorders range from 7.8% to 31% in advanced cancer patients and 37% in early stage patients (Tojal 2015). This could be a broad perspective in relating to women who already have mood disorders that are diagnosed with breast cancer previously before the evaluation, but there has been a significant increase in symptom of depression. The prevalence of depressive symptoms tends to be higher immediately after diagnosis, and although it tends to decrease over time and after treatment it remains high after 4 years. (Tojal 2015). Soy products, such as soy milk, contain abundant functional ingredients, such as soy proteins and isoflavones, and are attractive materials for use as bases in functional foods (Takagi, et al. 2015). These soy products are used for foods such as tofu, which is the water extract of soybeans, which is not particularly abundant in the western culture. Isoflavones have a humungous part in hormonal instances in women. Isoflavones are known to have a similar structure that is like that of female hormones and may exert either an estrogenic effect by binding to estrogen receptors (Takagi, et al. 2015). Isoflavones have also been shown to have physiological effects. As described above, this active ingredient in soybeans have been shown to be effective against these symptoms that women have during hormonal imbalance. Isoflavones are also known to act prophylactically against breast cancer through their anti-estrogenic effect (Takagi, et al. 2015). As with soybeans, it is fermented using lactic acid bacteria that is present in dairy-type foods. Isoflavones are usually present in the form of glycosides in proteins in soybeans and unfermented soy foods. After being ingested, isoflavones are hydrolyzed in aglycones and carbohydrates by -glucosidase and other enzymes in gastrointestinal tract, particularly in the lower small
