What Does Creation Story Tell Us About God?

The story of creation, as accounted for in the Bible in the Book of Genesis avails a variety of teachings about God, Jesus, and human beings. It provides a clear distinction of every being’s role. The first thing we get to learn about God is that He is the sole creator. God created the universe out of nothing. This may be derived from the first verse in the book of Genesis, where we are informed that God created heavens and the earth. We also learn that God is the provider and sustainer. God created the plants then afterward he created the sun, proving that it is Him that is responsible for making plants grow and not the sun. With this in mind, it is clear that while human beings work hard to provide for themselves and their families, God is responsible for sustaining them. We also learn that God does not have to rely on instruments to look out for His creation (What Does Creation Story Tell Us About God?, 2008). …show more content…
Humans are gendered, that is, they are grouped into males and females. On the other hand, God is not known to belong to any particular gender. We also learn that human beings were created in the image and likeliness of God. However, this does not mean that God can be likened to human beings. We also learn that humans can establish relations both with God and amongst themselves. God created human beings for His glory, that is, for human beings to glorify Him. Humans glorify Him by singing songs of praise to Him, worshipping Him, proclaiming how great He is and living according to His
