Identify an assessment you used to evaluate your students’ developing knowledge and skills. It should be an assessment to be completed by the entire class.

In math every time we use tickets out the door, observations, and the chapter review of that particular section to assess that our students are learning and understanding concepts.

The assessment for this particular activity that I choose is the ticket out the door.

Use the assessment and results to respond to the following questions in your weekly reflection. Supporting documents uploaded into Canvas will not count toward the 2-4 page limit.

Describe and discuss the student self-assessment tool or document

For each section in the math chapter there is a new skill being taught, so we use a ticket out the doors to make sure students understand that skill before moving on or adding another step. This ticket out the door usually contains 2-3 questions related to the skill. For example, we have been working on dividing shapes into halves and identifying a half. In the ticket out the door students were to circle the shape that showed a half. They were to sit in their testing spots, away from other students to ensure that all students were showing their own knowledge.

c. Provide a graphic (table or chart) or narrative summary of student learning for your whole class. Be sure to summarize student learning for all assessment criteria described above.

After checking all the tickets out the door, only 5 of my students did not meet the criteria stated above. Out of the two problems in the ticket out the door they missed one or both, even though they were very similar problems. This tells that the students were guessing so they got 1 out of 2 or did not understand if they missed both. We have 23 students total and 18 we able to pass it, so that tells me that 78% of my class passed the ticket out the

The assessment cycle offers teachers the opportunity to reflect on their teaching methods, curriculum offered and assessments methods. In Kaylene’s classroom, the use of a simple assessment cycle is used, plan – do – reflect. This method offers flexibility and doesn’t dictate or influence, is simple and easy to use for not only the teacher but the students as well. This was my first time grading Math tests so I felt it was a great way to introduce me to analyzing student’s work. I had an answer key to make the grading a lot easier, which was nice. Everything seemed to be easy until I started to grade the tests. For example, one of the students only answered a third of the problem right but the answer was worth 2 points.…

For example will assessment be initial/pre course, formative, summative or based on recognised prior learning. The assessor will need to decide the methods or activities to be used for assessment such as observations, performance evidence, discussion or witness/learner statement. How knowledge and understanding is going to be assessed also needs careful thought and could include tests, multiple choice questions, written assignment/task, a reflective journal, verbal questioning or naturally occurring evidence, all of which need to be fit for purpose and relate to the learner’s specific needs. Further considerations for assessment planning are to determine who will be assessing the learning/learner and how progress will be monitored and reviewed following feedback. 3.2 Evaluate the benefits of using a holistic approach to…

In many classrooms across America today, race and ethnicity are very much on the table. Teachers dream of seeing their students discuss difference in a constructive way. Some educators actively encourage their classes to get outside their comfort zones and confront the country’s racial history, but I ask myself after reading McIntosh’s Interactive Phases of Curricular and Personal Re-Vision Model, how much was race and ethnicity practice in the classroom long ago when I was in elementary. I can remember when I was in 10th grade my history teacher showed the movie of “Roots” for a project in the month of February. Of course, if you have ever seen the movie “Roots”, it is a very long movie broken into 4 parts.…

Assessment Instruments According to the ASCA’s ethical standards, professional school counselors are to be knowledgeable of the “purposes, nature, results, reliability, validity, limitations, and appropriateness of any instrument” counselors utilize, while also being able to communicate all of those things to parents and students (Dollarhide & Saginak, 2017, p. 147). Therefore, when school counselors use various assessments such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, and personal observations, they should be able to use each of them to pull data that is relevant to the needs of students and in line with the overall mission of the school. Surveys. One of the most cost effective and commonly used assessments are surveys.…
