Growing up we are all taught to do the right thing and if we were break those rules and disobey, we would have to accept those consequences. According to the “Golden Rule” it says “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Going through life everyday this quote should be in the back of your mind. In the bible, the scripture says in Matthew 7:12 “So in everything, do to others what you would like them to do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Even when Christ walked the earth he went by this and it is considered a way of life. If we treat others as they want to be treated, then if someone kills another human being that murderer should receive the same punishment by dying as well, since treating someone violently clearly means they want to be treated violently. In the poem “Capital Punishment” by Sherman Alexie says “1 death+1 death=2 deaths”(line 98). I do agree with capital punishment, because in The Bible there is a scripture in Mathew 5:38 that says, “You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.” All of these quotes are similar in many ways, but mainly if you would do something that is harmful towards another person then it is perfectly acceptable for another human to do it to you. Before doing a crime or anything that is a permanent doing, put yourself in their shoes and ask if you would want this done to you. If you think about this decision and would not like this action being done to you then chances are you should not do it. Citizens whom are quick to decide on a crime such as murder should not have any sympathy from anyone and should be retained in the prison cell and sit there to rot and to take accountability for their actions for the rest of their life. Giving these murderers the death penalty is giving them
