Fencing
Having a fence to provide protection to neighbours and bees is of importance if you want to be a successful backyard beekeeper. One should therefore ensure that they have a fence or shrub border that is 6 foot high and this will serve several purposes like:-
Because bees usually travel in a straight line the fence will raise the bee 's flight and this will force them to pass above people 's heads. This will also reduce any collision between them and neighbours or someone passing by.

If youi want to prevent swarms from going into the yard of your neighbour you can put a bait hive which is a good looking home waiting for a swarm to find it out. A good bait hive is made from the nuc hive or body of old hive which has an openning size of 1-3 square inches and is at least 1 cubic foot in volume. The best place to put it is in a wind protected and away from the sun place, about 10 feets off the ground and 20-30 feet from the hives.
