The History of the Development of the Four Fundamental Forces
Nature has a total of four fundamental forces. The forces include gravitational, electromagnetic, strong nuclear and weak nuclear force.
Gravitational force is the force of attraction between all masses. Every object in this universe is pulling upon other objects. Many scientists came up with logics to explain the science behind gravitational forces. The first one to try was Aristotle in around 330 BC. Aristotle believed Earth and the heavens were made up of different substances. Therefore he also believed that earth and the heavens had different sets of laws of motion. Another belief of Aristotle was objects can only be moved if they were pushed and that all objects on Earth ceased

Thus, leading Newton to come up with the three laws of motion. The first law of motion was the law of inertia. This law states that an object in motion will tend to stay in motion unless acted upon an outside force and an object at rest will remain at rest unless of course, acted upon an outside force. Newton’s second law states that the force of an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration. The third law of motion is the law of interaction. This states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every actions force there is an equal force of action in the opposite direction. It took Galileo, Copernicus, and Kepler to prove Aristotle 's theory wrong. On the basis of this, Newton came up with the three laws that play a significant role in the unearthing of the concept of gravitational force but his laws do not completely explain everything necessary to know about gravitational …show more content…
It was used to explain nuclear beta decay. In 1899, beta decay was discovered by Ernest Rutherford. Beta decay could not be explained by strong nuclear force because it didn’t affect electrons. It could not be explained by electromagnetic force because it did not have anything to do with neutrons. And it couldn’t even be explained by gravity because gravity was too weak of a force. Therefore, these lead scientists to searching for a new reasonable force. So, they came to the conclusion of weak nuclear force. In 1956, Chen-Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee revealed that the weak nuclear force interactions do not follow the same symmetry as the other elementary forces. In other words, weak force is not symmetrical. A year later, Chien-Shiung Wu confirmed this theory. Because this theory was proven true, Enrico Fermi 's theory of beta decay is considered
