“Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55 mph, that’s enough time to travel the length of a football field blindfolded.” Many people don’t realize how risky texting and driving or talking on their cell phone and driving can be. Cell phone use while driving should be prohibited at all times for the following reasons; first of all it is a very distracting action, taking your eyes off the road is dangerous, and it’s not worth the risk. To begin with, cell phone use while driving is a very distracting action. First of all driving is something that requires our full attention. Many of us don’t realize how distracted we are when using our cell phones until we look up from our screens. That’s when we notice that we are swerving to one side too much, speeding or slowing down, or that we are very close to the car in front of ours. Sometimes we are distracted when we are at a stop sign or red light. Moreover, we get lost in our own little world while we are talking or texting the person who is on the other side of their cell phone, and then we are …show more content…
A text message of phone call is not a risk worth taking while driving. We should not put our lives, or anyone else’s life in danger over a message, status update, or phone call. In many states, and Tuscan, Arizona it is now illegal to be on any mobile device and drive. In some states you are running the risk of getting your driver’s license suspended or even revoked. In Tucson, Arizona if you are caught using you cellphone while driving you get a ticket and a $100 fine. Many people ask, “Well what if it’s an emergency” or, “What if I’m lost and need directions?” well if that is the case then I’m pretty sure that most of us can agree that is not that difficult to pull over to the side of the road, or into a parking lot and park or turn out vehicles off in order to avoid an

    A visual distraction is anything that takes your eyes off the road.
