“Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55 mph, that’s enough time to travel the length of a football field blindfolded.” Many people don’t realize how risky texting and driving or talking on their cell phone and driving can be. Cell phone use while driving should be prohibited at all times for the following reasons; first of all it is a very distracting action, taking your eyes off the road is dangerous, and it’s not worth the risk. To begin with, cell phone use while driving is a very distracting action. First of all driving is something that requires our full attention. Many of us don’t realize how distracted we are when using our cell phones until we look up from our screens. That’s when we notice that we are swerving to one side too much, speeding or slowing down, or that we are very close to the car in front of ours. Sometimes we are distracted when we are at a stop sign or red light.
