Children’s Exposure to Online Dangers III, IV, and V Internet is a wonderful resource for gathering information, socializing, and entertainment. However, the truth is that there are many risks associated with it. It can be easy to overshare information, embarrass yourself and even get messages from creepy people. The issue of online child exploitation by predators has gained a worrying momentum that has brought concern on the safety that children and students have while using the internet. Adolescents are at higher risk for cyber predators and pornographers. Children are too naïve and tend to post to much private information which can place them in a dangerous spot. The same way that years ago teenagers were practicing unprotected sex without any advice of the consequences. Then sexual classes were implemented in their curriculum. As a result, adolescents were educated and able to make responsible decisions about sexual intercourse. Education is the key for prevention. By teaching children about the dangers of internet and how to use it safely we could shun online predators. School districts should enforce online safety classes to provide students with the education needed to identify sexual predators and avoid them. As more children learn how to safely use the internet we will have lower incidence of online sexual abuse. With the increasing amount of online sexual predators, it is time for adults to step up and supervise kids while using internet. Computers must be kept in an area where is easy to visualize what kids are viewing. We all should be aware of characteristics of an online predators. For example, receiving calls, mails or gifts from unknown people or using different emails accounts. In addition, we should create awareness of different resources available to guide parents, educators and, children for using internet in a safety
