An effective leader understands the importance of not only being ethical but also observes moral standards. Morality measures the extent by which an activity is appropriate or wrong (De Hoogh& Den Hartog, 2008). A moral leader ensures that he involves his conscience and not entirely relying on emotions to make decisions. Professional ethics measure the degree by which a leader is effective (Wagner& Simpson, 2009). The professional ethics ensures that a leader does not engage in activities beyond their professional landscape and that they always protect the profession’s integrity at all times. Morals, on the other hand, are the standards that measure what is right or wrong. Professional ethics are founded on morals (Wagner& Simpson, 2009). Beliefs are the notions that leaders have grown up observing in the society, which also can be a great pointer on the right path to take (Gamble, 2017). Customs are the cultural activities that are inherent in a company, which most leaders are expected to follow. People that share common things such as language, heritage and profession have a tradition that unites that which can be categorised as ethnic traditions.
To conclude, an effective leader can balance morality, ethics and social responsibility. A transformation leader understands the great impact that his company can have on the society.
