Website/Video Summary Assignment
Students will identify and describe (10) sources; 5 websites and/or text resources and 5 video clips specifically to support mentors, mentees and/or first-year teachers. The summaries should include minimum two to three paragraphs with minimum 4-6 sentences for each paragraph. The sources title should include the word or phrase mentors, mentees, and/or first-year teachers. These should all be geared toward education. Authors, titles, and links should be included in all resources. You may not use the class texts nor article (Creating a Teacher Mentoring Program) as any of your sources.

As stated in the article, mentorship must be built on a solid relationship. To be successful as a mentor and a mentee the process should be built on a relationship of trust and openness. It is critical to focus on one idea or goal at a time and then give manageable advice. There is nothing worse than having someone feel overwhelmed by giving too many ideas at once. The mentor and mentee must establish the goal together and then work on achieving the goal in a manageable amount of time. Being a teaching mentor is an incredible chance to make a difference. It can make a new educator?s transition into a flexible and truly effective professional better and easier. This process helps a whole class of children has a successful year, not just your own.
