Weather in literary works is important because it sets the tone and mood of the story. The weather also helps describe how the character in the story may be feeling at the moment. For example, in the Odyssey, the gods are using the weather and the sea to keep Odysseus away from home. The sea is fast and violent, showing are eager they are to get rid of him. Also, when there is heavy rain pouring in the background as well as loud thunder, it also helps describe the mood of an upset yet angry character. The heavy rain compares to how upset they are about the circumstance, it also makes the mood of the reader upset as well.
