Where the United States supplied the Afghans with the new FIM-92 Stinger. This portable anti-aircraft missile system was highly effective on the battlefield, Operation Cyclone(Kraszkiewicz). Along with other supplies, the Afghans were able to take down the USSR. Now in present time the upcoming infamous terrorist group called ISIS have gotten their hands on these supplies and Anti-Air weapons from the 70s. Ever since then the U.S. weapon companies have been trading with the Middle East until the late 90s. Many historians and political figures believe that ISIS has their hands on American made weapons (CBS news). You would think that those weapons from Operation Cyclone would be gone by now, but they're back. There goes to show you that, the U.S. should not allow foreign gun trade because even though Operation Cyclone happen about 40 years ago some of weapons are being used in present day by ISIS. In more recent news, the terrorist group, ISIS has taken control of a U.S. ammunition air drop (CBS news). The United States is unintentionally supporting ISIS in a sense. One possible solution can be that American weapon companies can only sell/trade to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) countries such as England, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Belgium etc. Doing this can prevent unstable governments and terrorist groups from getting their hands on American made weapons. For the past few years the United States have been assisting countries in the Middle East that have shown conflicts within the government. If the U.S. stops selling to those Middle Eastern countries, they can in way cease the conflict to a more diplomatic matter rather than all-out
