Immigration is one of the most talked about issues in this election. People from various countries that are looking for a better quality of life immigrate to the United States. Besides the obvious illegally crossing the border, people come other ways. Many come by getting work, school, business, or touring visas. This is completely acceptable, however some people overstay their time and are therefore considered illegal immigrants.
There are 3 main issues in the discussion of immigration reform. The first is how to deal with Syrian refugees. Many are debating whether or not we should allow Syrian refugees into the United States. This is also one of the most controversial. Some options are to have no pathway to citizenship or implement various systems that would make it easier to become a citizen of the U.S. Taking away a pathway to becoming a citizen and allowing no immigrants would gravely hurt the U.S. Creating a pathway to help immigrants become citizens would mean lowering the amount of years it takes to process the papers and revising other procedures to make it easier to file for citizenship, but still have guidelines that would make sure that we only accept people that will contribute positively to our country.
Madam secretary it is my recommendation that you support and help improve immigration reform. Immigration is beneficial to our economy. They take jobs that other Americans won’t do and they pay taxes. We must revise immigration laws. Not only will this benefit us economically, but we will also diversify America, which is what we are known for. We must also allow Syrian refugees to come into our country.
