However, reports clearly indicate that many developing economies in South America and Africa can increase their GDP by up to 5% through better access to water and this can go a long way in helping them achieve their maximum development goals within a short time period. In a global context improved and regular access to water, raise the world economy by up to 15%. If the worldwide general development goals are met it is estimated that the global economic gains per could be as high as 56 billion dollars and consistent universal access to usable water can alone add up to 220 billion dollars per year to the world economy (HSBC 2012).
