In the movie Water Like Chocolate the themes that found are love, hope, obedience, pride, determination, fantasy, passion, responsibility and power and tradition. The topics that are found in the movie are love, maturity and rebellion. One motif that is commonly found is food. This motif is not only repeated multiply of time but it helps define the characters and represents who they are.

Question 2 In the film Death and the Maiden Paulina’s main claim to her husband she wants Roberto to confess. That Roberto was the one that raped and tortured her. She wants to put Roberto in trial to see if he is guilty. She wanted to rape Roberto and make him feel the pain she endured when she was tortured. She realizes that would do nothing to him and that no revenge can satisfied her. She also claims that it’s crucial for her husband to believe in her. This trust means a lot to her. She still has not coup with the past.

In the book there is no trains station scene, that’s only in the film. There is a bar scene fight with the bar owner and Sandoval and Chaparro. In the film see bar scene fight scene buts it’s with Sandoval and his drinking buddies. The difference between the film and the book is that the film has character buildup that is more develop. The film has more of a subjective tone than the book. The book presents more questions in the mind. The ending is different, from the book and the film. The film has a unique way of ending while the book doesn’t. The way the deaths occur in the book is different from the film. In the book we found out the Morales commits suicide and Sandoval’s death is different from the film. In the film he has ugly and sad way of dying.
