This week we reviewed classroom rules, good behaviour and practice using positive words with one another.
Children were reminded that showing love to each and everyone is very important to maintain peace and unity in our group.
We talked that we are responsible of the outcomes or consequences of our words and actions, so its good to always think ahead what's best interest for ourselves and others as well.
Children were also reminded to be sensitive with others feelings by not throwing negative words that might hurt someone’s emotions. They encouraged to understand and support someone who is sad by hugging, kissing or in any ways to make him/her happy.

Good morning Ms Gianotti and fellow classmates. For this term’s child studies assessment, I have designed a toy for 2-3-year-old called the “Art Geo Board”. The art geo board is a kids toy to encourage them to learn more about shapes, colours, numbers, alphabet, objects, pattern, counting and symmetry. It is a wooden board with pegs you can string rubber bands around and fairly simple to make and cheap fun. I made this toy for under $12 in materials and completed in less than an hour.…

Make sure a psychologist who specialises in personality disorders is involved from the start. The children must trust this person enough to tell them about everything that happens at the narcissistic parent’s house. Do not think that you are protecting the children be telling them that this parent loves them and means well. In the long run, this will do a lot of damage, as they will then believe they are deserving of such abuse. The psychologist must train them to see the patterns of abuse, and also to be aware that this parent will lie to pit them against each other.…

    1. Looking at commercial advertising of boy and girl’s toys; girl’s commercials played soft musical tune, while boy’s toy commercials had more of a rock and roll musical tune. Furthermore, the media enforced general roles to the viewers by only including males in boy’s toy commercials and females in girl’s toy commercials. The settings for boy’s toy commercials were usually outside and consisted of darker colors. In addition, they included toy weapons and/or action figures (males with large muscles) that provoked thoughts of violence.…

    • Communicating with adults – it’s important that we are sensitive to the need of other adults, particularly if they have communication difficulties. It is possible that we will adapt with them without realising that. We often change the way we react to others, depending on the way in which they react to us. For example, if we are speaking to parent or carer, we might make sure that we are facing them and giving eye contact. Often schools will send our or gather information in particular way, email or letters.…

In the Pre-K classroom that I observed it consisted of several different centers for the children to participate in, such as: block area, dramatic play, art, library, sand/water table, music/movement, sensory area, finger painting, play dough, and the students got the opportunity to make their own snacks. Not only did the students get to participate in centers, they had the opportunity each day to go outside and play on the playground as well as having an interactive lecture every morning at circle time and when the students sat down at their tables to do their daily worksheet. I believe that the Pre-K class I observed was a mix between traditional teaching as well as constructivism, creating a balance between the two. In the morning during circle time, the teacher would “lecture” the students with the letter of the day, go over the date, months, days of the week, shapes, and the numbers up to the date it currently was.…

“For very young children, making art -- or just talking about it- provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes, and actions” (Lynch). It is vital for a child to learn the importance of art early in their life so that they can choose whether or not they will be dedicated to pursue a career involving art skills. Learning about these basic forms of art at an early age gives children more insight in preparation for their educational life. “Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development” (Lynch).
