America was not justified for war After becoming free from its mother country, Spain just a mere 25 years earlier, Mexico was in a brutal war with the United States. Many events led up to the war. It started off with Mexico declaring itself free from Mexico, becoming a free country. At the time, Mexico was equal to the size of the United States. Soon after Mexico became free, Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836. Then the war took place from 1846-1848. This DBQ answers the question, Was the United States Justified in Going to War with Mexico? The U.S. was not justified in going to war because of three reasons.
