Was John Proctor a good or bad person? There is room for debate about this question. Both sides have good reasons to believe their theory John Proctor is accused of witchcraft. He is hanged in the ending of the play. The people that believe that he was a bad guy have a pretty good reason in believing this to be true. Near the end of the play, he said “God is dead.” This seems to indicate he was not so nice. However, let me give you my reasons for why I believe was a good man. All throughout the poem, the judges and the girls who were accusing everybody of witchcraft had their way of making people believe they were witches. The people being accused would have no chance of getting out of being killed. Many believe that the girls were faking it so they could get the fame and feel that they had power. The girls would fake being possessed by the devil and the judges would believe them. John Proctor had this same thing happen to him. …show more content…
John Proctor tried to protect Marry Warren from the girls and the girls then said that they saw the devil when John Proctor was in the room. The judges would not budge for him and accused him of being a witchcraft? Before the accusations on, the girls went running out of the courtroom yelling and running from the devil. The girls ran into the lake and John went after them. During this, there was an interesting turn of events. Mary Warren turned on her dad and accused him of being a witch.
