In our role as Warrant Officers the form leadership takes has definitely changed, but it is every bit as important. As a Non-Commissioned Officer the leadership role is much more direct and obvious. As a Warrant Officer it is so much more subtle and detached. When you first arrive your leadership doesn’t really extend much beyond the fridge, you aren’t much of an expert in anything. Quickly you move into more and more levels of responsibility. As you progress to Pilot in Command you are trusted to be a leader in the aircraft. As more and more junior Warrants arrive and as you become more and more knowledgeable and confident in your craft you become more of a leader in the unit. Mentoring junior pilots is a major form of your new leadership
