Thus describing war as an evil illness that consumes the mental health of the victims and destroys them interpreting war as a horrifying movie. Erich Maria Remarque, as stated in the History website, “was drafted into the German army at the age of 18 [and] fought on the Western Front during World War I. After the war, Remarque had several jobs one with involved him being a “Journalist.” Taking advantage of his knowledge of war, he wrote one of the greatest war novels in history, All Quiet on the Western Front. The novel illustrates the story of a young German man named Paul Baumer. Everyday these men are in the line of duty initiating the feeling of stress and sexual urges therefore, in order for these soldiers to relieve all these problems and clear their minds is by sadism, “head has been turned by having so much power.” The veterans that are above the rookies in the army tend to do this more on them, they corrupt their economy and their army. Their brains are broken down and find pleasure in torturing their own people. Himmelstoss shows these acts in the
