Forget everything you thought you believed about your hero. Written in 1962, Daniel Boorstin’s, From Hero to Celebrity: The Human Pseudo- Event, a classic piece of cultural criticism, comments on the rise of celebrity and the unfailing decline of the hero. Traditional heroes are believed to have reached their status because they achieved greatness or great accomplishments in their own life times. Boorstin argues that unlike the celebrity, famous people were heroic, “admire for his courage, nobility, or exploits” (46). In the example of entertainers, he said it was their “box office (ability)” (Klapp 54) that brings in their fans and that can in turn lift them to the status of heroism. I feel it is not just the natural ability of the entertainer that elevates them to the status of hero but also their ability to relate to their fans and have a positive impact on their day to day life.…

War correspondents have one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. When controversy breaks out across the globe, it’s war correspondents who muster up the courage to go directly to the fighting and report the warfare; more specifically, they go to the heart of the controversial issue. This is where a war correspondent is most likely to get the declared truth for either side participating in the war. The core of the issue is the most dangerous place for anyone to be – especially, a non-fighting war correspondent who is experienced in journalism, and not warfare. One might ask, why would anyone travel to the heart of a fight just to report what is happening?…
