Kmart is a retail business that is based in the United States but operates on the global market also. This paper will talk about the different environments that Kmart operates in and the barriers faced in each of these environments. Kmart has went from a retail giant to fighting to stay alive. Businesses like Wal-Mart and Target have forced Kmart into an uncomfortable situation and they need to find a way to get back to the way it was. After talking about Kmart's current challenges there will be recommendations on the way ahead for Kmart and dig themselves out of the hole they are currently in.

These countries both of these countries fall under the Anglo Cluster and share the same type of socioculture. Anglos are considered to be individualists, masculine, and indulgent people. Simply put Anglos like to look after themselves and their immediate family, they don't want to rely on others for support and they like to "win". What better way to show the world that you are "winning" than to go out and buy a lot of things from a store like Kmart (the hofstede centre, 2015). Years ago, Kmart tried to branch out to Mexico and this was deemed a failure. Some of this could be due to the Latin America Culture. People of Latin America Culture tend to be masculine, indulgent, uncertainty avoidant. Indulgent means they enjoy their leisure time and will work just as hard in leisure time as they do when they work. Uncertainty Avoidance is the fear of change and this may be where Kmart came up short (the hofstede centre, 2015).
