The photograph “Wait For Me Daddy” was taken by Claude P. Dettloff on October 1, 1940 in Westminster, Canada. The photo was taken around the time of World War 2 where many men were sent to fight in the war leaving behind their grieving families. Most war photos come off as sad or violent to most people but this particular photo gave me the feeling of happiness more than anything, showing the love between a father and his child instead.

This not only portrays the love the child has for his father, but also the father’s priorities. Even though the father’s responsibilities of the military may be important, at a glance, this picture proves that family comes first. Most people would say this photograph comes off as sad or dismal, the color is grey, soldiers are leaving behind their families to fight in war and may never return home. Even though this picture is mainly about war and soldiers that is not the main focus though. The focus is the innocence of a little boy who does not understand or care about sad things such as war. He only cares about being able to hold his father's hand and stay with him. Most people would agree that most children during war would grieve to the thought of their father leaving for war.
