The Uk feminsta article talks about how women are discriminated at work and do not get paid as much as the men do. 70% of the women in the UK work in minimum wage jobs, in addition up to 30,000 women are fired every year simply for being pregnant and an estimated 440,000 lose out on a promotion or pay due to pregnancy. A study by the Fawcett Society concluded that 51% of women and men from middle management to director level identify stereotyping as the major reason for the huge pay gap between men and women. The article estimated that the UK would gain up to £23 billion by exploiting women’s skills wisely in employment.
This article relates to the chosen topic in various ways. It shows that the women are paid less even though it is clearly seen that they could bring drastic improvements to the economy; to the British economy is in this case. These undeserved acts are results of countless stereotypes made by people. Although, women receive the same education and develop the same skills men have, they are still paid differently. Thus, it can be said that society hasn’t changed through out the years as they still tend to construct a huge pay gap between men and women.
Wage discrimination in this instance means that women are consistently paid less for performing the same tasks as men and having the same skills/qualities. According to the stats,

As proof, ‘Hunger Games’ Protagonist Jenifer Lawrence is known as the world’s highest paid actress in Hollywood as at now. Although she was paid $52million dollars which is such a huge amount of money, it was nothing compared to what Robert Downey Jr. was paid as the highest paid actor.
