The chapter on a Healthy Diet in the Visualizing Nutrition textbook was a great reminder for me on healthy eating guidelines. What I find most challenging in my life is consuming enough protein daily. I was particularly interested in the “Debate “regarding super-fortified foods. As I try to get in the recommended daily amount of protein I often turn to a protein bar for supplementation. Although I don’t worry about toxicity as I limit myself to one protein bar a day, it is a concern that I had not considered before. Certainly my young adult daughters fall victim to the trendy vitamin water and convenient protein bars.
