The children’s character and attitude contributed to being violent toward others. Throughout the car trip, the childrens’ weren’t corrected of their attitude and the way they spoke to others by their parents, yet, their grandmother did allude that their generation differences set their morals apart. In Moore’s documentary, he discusses how violence is derived from the American culture and how it has become more worst due to gun laws (Bowling for Columbine). Another connection between the documentary and this short story is that violence is everywhere and anyone can be violent. In Bowling for Columbine, two students shot up Columbine High School, which shows that violence in children is becoming more evident. As I reflect on the generation differences between my great grandfather, mother, siblings, and younger nieces and nephews, I can see a different perspective through each generation. When I talked to my mother about how life was like when she grew up, she would always tell me that she didn’t have to worry about people stealing cars or even breaking into her home. Nowadays, there are so many criminals and people that do a lot of bad things that a person can’t trust so easily.
