Lifestyle in General Vikings were a group of people that raided and conquered many places in the European world. For the most part the Vikings were living in Scandinavia in places such as Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. This group of people hunted for their food, and lived off the land. This is different from other parts of the world that had great civilizations, which tended to grow the vegetables, raise the cattle and pigs, and overall were able to survive without having to go into the wild and get their food.
The religious beliefs of the Vikings differed from the rest of the world as well. They have a God, which his name is Odin. “The great ash tree, Yggdrasil… Odin, hung for nine days and nights in order to attain much of his magical power.” This is obviously completely different from Christianity. Our God didn’t hang from a tree to get his power. However, as time went on and the Vikings become part of the rest of the European world, they are converted to Christianity. …show more content…
The Vikings strategy may have been what made them the stronger opponent at times. The use of the longship, the fast paced raids, and the amount of times the Vikings would attack one specific location for sure played a part in their victories. The Vikings were seen as fierce, and truly much stronger opponents. I believe that this struck some fear into the countries and cities that they raided. Lastly, England, Ireland, and Scotland never really focused to much on building warriors straight away. Most of the time the men that fought for these countries were peasants, and possibly middle class people. The Vikings trained their younger boys to become warriors as they grew up which allowed them to truly be a warrior and not worry about other life aspects as much.
