The first main difference that I noticed in the novel was the regret shown by the creature while Victor never admits his mistake in the creation of the creature. The creature even says, “When I run over the frightful catalogue of my sins, I cannot believe that I am the same whose thoughts were once filled with sublime and transcendent visions of the beauty and the majesty of goodness”. This shows a ton of regret in which he wishes he was still just a happy being; however, nothing will ever be the same because of what he did, and he feels poorly about it. The opposite of regret is shown when we look at Victor’s actions. Never in the novel does he say that he wishes he didn’t create the creature which started all this madness. All he says before he dies is that “The task of his destruction was mine, but I have failed”. This tells the reader that Victor didn’t regret, just wanted to get rid of the problem he created in a malevolent way.
