There are three forms of communication, this include graphic, non-verbal and verbal communication. This research paper will discuss what verbal or interpersonal communication is, the importance of interpersonal communication with supports of scholar sources and a personal experience. Gamble and Gamble (2002) define interpersonal communication as a process of people exchanging information, feelings and meaning through verbal message, this is also known as face to face communication and it involves face to face communication. Interpersonal communication also be done by talking and writing (Donnelly and Neville 2013).

Once a customer’s food is ready, we call out the number on the order, which they will also have a copy of, to let them know that their order is ready. Sometime passed by and the customer who took the food came back and started complaining that I didn’t give her the right food, what happened was that I called out the wrong number and the right the order was meant to be for another customer. The process that took place was that I, the sender called out an order number, I did not interpret the message clearly, then the receiver heard the message, however did not understand the message correctly, as a result of their feedback not being correct and the form of communication was verbal, that was due to not hearing the right order number. In addition, the breakdown of communication was quickly resolved, as I was able to explained the situation. I then got one of two of my workmates to make new orders for both the customers, as the other customer was already waiting for her order which was took. Interpersonal communication is important as it is used it in everyday live, effective communication is important, because it is used at work, home and around the community. Effective communication is a very important process of message being sent is received is interpreted correctly. Though the process is all learnt, senders and the receivers to calibrate very well with each other, acquiring them to have both great speaking and listening skills to make sure the receiver understand what is being said or what kind of message they are receiving.
