Another difference in both arts is the background. In the Venus of Laussel, it appears that the woman is laying on a rock. The Cycladic figure is a woman who is standing up, which makes the Venus of Laussel woman look much shorter. I think that the Cycladic woman looks more realistic because all the sides of her body are identical. For example, the Venus of Laussel woman has a difference in the legs. According to met museum, “the Cyclades, is a group of islands in the southwestern Aegean, comprises some thirty small islands and numerous islets” (www.metmuseum.org). It is also stated, “early Cycladic sculpture comprises predominantly female figures that range from simple modification of the stone to developed representations of the human form, some with natural proportions and some more idealized” (www.metmuseum.org). On a trip to Mexico, I was fortunate enough to visit the pyramids and saw how the artwork was very similar to the Venus of Laussel. I was truly amazed by the artworks I saw there. In my opinion, the pyramids look similar to the Venus of Laussel because of its rock type
