Introduced in July 2010 the phased programme over five years ensures people working in direct contact with vulnerable adults and children are vetted before access is granted. This includes a criminal background checks (CRB) and is regulated by (ISA) Independent Safeguarding Authority, who police suitable and non-suitable applicants to be given an interview. The ISA will continue to monitor all people working in the field, acting on any new information they receive to determine suitable applicants remain of a good character.
