When she woke up, she realized the couch felt damp. After she sat up, she noticed there was a red stain by her legs. Valerie was definitely surprised. What even happened last night? she thought. Dragging her feet down the hall, she made her way to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, she was faced with a not so pretty sight. Her makeup …show more content…
Feeling the breeze, she remembered that it was also nice out last night. Or, at least she thought it was nice out last night. Valerie then suggested they go get some coffee, since they were already out. Sylvia agreed, considering she had a 3-hour drive ahead of her.
They walked in silence. As they walked, Valerie noticed the streets were quiet. Too quiet. She checked her watch. It was 11:30. Normally, there would people out on their porches; doing things like reading or drinking tea. The only sounds she could hear were some birds chirping.
After what seemed like hours, they made it to the sisters’ favorite coffee shop. The owner, who was at the counter, greeted them with a small smile. Carrying 2 mugs to their table, he set them down and paid his respects about her “friend”.

Suddenly, the events of last night were slowly starting to come back. She was pretty sure that Isaac had called, asking if she wanted to get a drink. ‘For old times sake,’ he had said.’It’ll be on the house.’ Knowing that the restaurant wouldn’t want her back, she agreed. Not like she had anything better to do.
Valerie noticed that Sylvia was no longer drinking her chai latte, and her own cappuccino was gone.
“Are we continuing our walk? And since when do you and Isaac talk?”
Putting on her army jacket, Sylvia said, “I never said we talked, Valerie. I just saw him.” As she headed back towards Valerie’s apartment, Sylvia took her by the shoulders and spun her around in the other direction. “What are you doing?” “There’s something you need to see.” Then, they headed towards downtown, where the bar was. This street looked different than it had last night. Considering it was early afternoon, there were not as many people out. In fact, they were the only people
