Last spring there was a measles outbreak in Disneyland which caught the public 's attention. Many lawmakers got behind this and enforced many mandatory vaccinations like measles, the common flu, and tetanus shots. If anyone wants to work with children under the age of 6 or with elders over the age of 70, they must have been vaccinated for the common flu. In our modern world with more advanced infections and diseases we must take as much precautions as possible. Each year, approximately 226,000 people are hospitalized and 36,000 die due to the flu. These are preventable deaths. Requiring an annual flu vaccine is crucial to protect the safety and health of patients in hospitals, many of whom already have weakened immune systems, as well as visitors, and co-workers. All of these vaccines are required by the time a child begins school up through the age of 17. They are designed to prevent infecting others in highly populated environments like preschools, daycares, and elementary school. These vaccines have side effects that may seem unpleasant however they definitely outweigh the severeness of the actual disease. DTaP is one of the most common diseases among young children (Pan 1). Diphtheria causes a thick covering in the back of the throat. Tetanus Lockjaw) causes painful tightening of the muscles, usually all over the body. Pertussis (Whooping Cough) causes coughing sessions so bad that it is hard for infants to eat, drink, or breathe. These sessions can last for weeks. Many children can die from these diseases every year and that 's why the CDC requires children to take these vaccinations before children enter school and throughout their entire their earlier parts of school (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP) VIS). In the next year we will see a lot of people getting vaccinated for these diseases due to the new law Those who wish not to receive vaccinations due to personal beliefs will no longer be able to use that excuse in the state of California. We will most likely
